Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. Instead of signing in with only your password, you must also verify your identity using another authentication method, such as a code generated on your mobile phone or biometric verification. | |||
This significantly improves account security. Even if someone learns your password, they will not be able to access your account without your mobile device or another configured authentication method. | |||
== Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) == | |||
To configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), open a private/incognito browser window on your computer and navigate to mojeheslo.upol.cz. | |||
Sign in using your university account in the following format login@upol.cz and your university password. | |||

Select Microsoft Authenticator as your authentication method. | |||
You may register multiple Authenticator devices if needed (for example, both your smartphone and tablet). | |||

It is recommended to allow notifications for the Microsoft Authenticator app. | |||

Leave the QR code displayed on your computer screen and open the Microsoft Authenticator application on your mobile device. | |||

In the Microsoft Authenticator app, choose either: | |||
Add work or school account, or | |||
Scan QR code | |||
Scan the QR code displayed on your computer. | |||
Your university account will be added to the Authenticator app. | |||
Once the QR code has been scanned, return to your computer and click Next. | |||

A numeric verification code will appear on your computer. | |||
Enter this code into the Microsoft Authenticator app and confirm it. | |||
When the verification is successful, the MFA setup is complete. | |||

If you see an authentication method named "Authenticator – Outlook mobile", this configuration is incorrect. | |||
In that case: | |||
Remove this authentication method. | |||
Remove the account from the Outlook mobile app (recommended). | |||
Configure the account again by following this guide. | |||

You will be redirected to Microsoft Authenticator, where you will enter your password. | |||

Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
To configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), open a private/incognito browser window on your computer and navigate to mojeheslo.upol.cz.
Sign in using your university account in the following format login@upol.cz and your university password.

Once the QR code has been scanned, return to your computer and click Next.

Configured Authentication Methods
After completing the configuration, your mojeheslo.upol.cz page should display your configured authentication methods.
If you see an authentication method named "Authenticator – Outlook mobile", this configuration is incorrect.
In that case:
Remove this authentication method. Remove the account from the Outlook mobile app (recommended). Configure the account again by following this guide.

Signing in to Outlook
Download and install Microsoft Outlook from:
Google Play Store Apple App Store
Open Outlook and select Add Account.

Outlook may automatically detect your university account based on the Microsoft Authenticator configuration.
If it does, simply select Add Account.
