VPN connection for Windows 8

You can find all the basic, necessary steps, which must be done before you can connect to UP VPN network, at page with all the basic information regarding UP network. Please, continue only after finishing all the steps, or you will be unable to connect to the VPN properly. So, how to we set up the VPN?

Step 1

Right-click the wireless connection button and choose Network and sharing center. When a new window opens up choose option Set up a new connection or network.

Step 2

Set up connection or network tab opens up. Choose Connect to a workplace option.

Step 3

Choose Use my connection to the Internet (VPN) in the next window.

Step 4

Fill in the IP address 158.194.254.9 into the box Internet address. Target name can be anything you'd like and you'd remember it is a UP VPN network, for e.g. UPOL or UPOL VPN. Enable the option Do not connect now as we have to finish setting up the network. Click on the button Next.

Step 5

Just as in step 1, right-click the wireless connection button and choose Network and sharing center. When a new window opens up choose option Change adapter settings. You can find your newly created VPN in Network connections folder. Right-click it and choose Properties.

Step 6

Check the IP address 158.194.254.9 in the General tab. Set up Ciphering data option Require ciphering and in the Verification choose option Enable these protocols, where you should enable protocol MS-CHAP v2. Then move on to the Networks tab.

Step 7

Choose Protocol IP version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the Networks tab. Then click on Properities.

Step 8

Here choose the option Get IP address from DHCP server automatically. Write IP address 158.194.80.254 to Preferred DNS server. Alternative DNS server address is 158.194.80.253 and click Specify.

Step 9

Check whether Use the default gate of the remote network is checked or not.

Step 10

Now we've set up everything we need to use the VPN network. You can connect to the VPN network quite easily. Click on the wireless networks button, choose the UP VPN network and click on the Connect button.

Step 11

Once login window comes up fill in the login details set up in Portal in the format in again click Connect in a form of Portal ID (e.g. dvorak04).

When you are done with all the work necessary, you can click Disconnect in the main bar.
